It doesn't seem to matter what brand of gun it is, Glock, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, or CZ, most people agree that competitors can always do better. Enter Apex Tactical Specialties, a company that stands out from the crowd when it comes to aftermarket rifles and seems to support many of the sniper rifle models on the market.

When Apex contacted us and asked if we would be interested in trying out and testing their Apex Glock Trigger, we couldn't respond to the email quickly enough. We actually told Apex that anything they wanted to send that matched the Glock 19 test was good enough for us to test. What we received a little over a week later was the Apex Action Enhancement Blue Kit for Glock pistols (Part # 102-175). Already familiar with Apex and trigger components from my previous Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm project I knew right away that I was getting quality parts. Before we get too far into this review, let's break down exactly what comes with this kit from our friends at Apex.

Within the Apex Action Enhancement Kit we only have three parts that are manufactured in the free state of Arizona.

The first thing we had to deal with before testing the new trigger was to make the Glock 19 safe and remove the four-piece trigger of the standard Glock generation. To disassemble this part all I needed was my Twist from Multitasker Tools and a few seconds of tapping three pins and the Glock 19 was disassembled into the parts you see above. Most readers of the site are familiar with how the Glock family of pistols breaks down, but for those of you who don't, both YouTube and the Apex homepage have easy-to-follow how-to videos to get you comfortable. After the first few times you will become very good at it and any fear or doubt you may have will disappear.

When installing the new trigger and trigger stop, be sure to pay attention to how the spring is connected and make sure the new trigger is fully seated. If you watch the Apex video and remember these few tips, you can replace a new trap in minutes. Once your new parts are installed, you can quickly reassemble your Glock frame and focus on installing the new Apex safety clip. Disassembling the gun frame is less dangerous than disassembling the slide. Don't worry, Apex has videos for it, and even if you have no experience lowering Glock slides, you can develop the skills and confidence to do it yourself.

Tipton's Snap Cap also successfully followed all the steps outlined in its time to reassemble the gun. By that time, reassembling your gun should be simple and routine. If the gun returns properly, that's a good sign. The next step is to test it and see how the gun resets and operates according to the normal manual for the gun. We suggest you try this first with an inactive container such as a type or other type of test cycle instead of an active container. If that works well, move on to a live cycles session. If this all sounds more complicated than you want to try, there's no harm in buying a kit and dropping it off at your favorite gunsmith and letting them do it for you.

When all the sales hype wrapped up in the marketing machine is over and the installation is done, at the end of the day it all comes down to one thing. Does the Apex Tactical Specialties Launch Kit Do What It Claims? Does it actually reduce the trigger pull and change the feel compared to a stock Glock trigger. The answer to that is... Yes, it delivers on its promise of reducing trigger pressure by over a full pound. Using my Lyman Digital Gauge, the standard Glock 19 trigger was 5 lbs 9 oz, and after the Apex trigger was installed that number dropped to 4 lbs 7.2 oz. With a one-pound reduction in trigger pull, the Apex trigger allows the shooter to feel more trigger travel and a tighter trigger reset during firing. Unfortunately, this is not as easy to show our readers as it is to feel when you shoot a gun.

Like almost anything in the gun ownership community, the idea or discussion of improving firearms can be divisive and generate certain levels of anger. These groups can often be grouped into two groups, with a few in the middle. There are others who think they should "just do something" and fire thousands of rounds before upgrading a part or part. Then there is another camp that I belong to that believes that it doesn't matter what you think of my decisions, I will do what I want and I can make any gun work better in my shooting situation. There are also people in the middle who seem to see both points of demand and can see the value from both sides of the view.

I think this combination is the most affordable way to clean up and simplify the gun on almost any Glock pistol on the market. It's easy to install, and an all-black base model of this setup can be had for the price of a few Glock magazines. For me, the upgrade is worth the price. As I said in the opening, I have installed other Apex products in my guns so I was fully aware of the company's reputation and products. We are fortunate to have a great partnership with Apex Tactical and look forward to allowing as many shooters as possible to find time to fire this rifle and trigger combination.
